How to Dress for Special Occasions

When preparing for a special event, take time to select the perfect outfit. It should suit your body shape, the occasion and be in your best color. For a special event treat yourself to getting your makeup and hair done professionally.

Evening Dress:

What does this mean? For men it means a dark formal suit, a tuxedo or evening tailcoat and for women a long evening dress. A gala event such as a premiere requires a long evening dress. Pay attention to dress codes - it is courteous to dress as recommended.

Shoes:

If you are not used to wearing high-heeled shoes practice before the big event. You will ruin your look if you are hobbling around on heels that are too high. If you don’t feel comfortable in heels don’t choose a pair that are extremely high but instead choose a pair with lower heels. This is not a time to wear clogs, scuffed shoes, pumps, flats or wedge heels.

Plunging Necklines:

If you are wearing a low-cut neckline choose one that is not too revealing and does not make you feel self-conscious. For a classier look choose a dress with a low-cut back.

Handbag:

For a formal occasion choose a handbag that is elegant, a clutch for example. Don’t be tempted to carry the oversized bag you use everyday.

Black and White:

A “little black dress” is an item you should have in your wardrobe. This dress is simple, has long or short sleeves and is knee length. With the right accessories it can be changed to daytime or evening. When attending a wedding do not wear white or dress to outshine the
